Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 26, 2025 Last Updated: April 4, 2026 Version: 1.5
1. Introduction
Welcome to İkramia ("we," "our," or "us"). İkramia is a food-sharing social media platform that allows users to discover recipes, share their own creations, follow chefs, and interact with a community of food enthusiasts.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.
We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account, by placing a prominent notice on our application, or by updating any privacy information on this page. Your continued use of the application after such modifications will constitute your acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Policy.
Contact Information: If you have questions or comments about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at: Email: privacy@ikramrecipes.com
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
When you create or use an account on Ikramia, we may collect:
- Account Information: Your email address, username, password, and other information required to create and secure your account
- Age-Related Confirmation: Information you provide to confirm that you are eligible to use the service, such as confirming that you are at least 13 years old
- Optional Profile Information: Information you choose to add later, such as a profile image, bio, phone number, date of birth, link, language preferences, dietary preferences, allergies, or similar profile details. Some optional fields may be available only in certain app versions, platforms, regions, or features, and may not be requested from every user.
2.2 User-Generated Content
When you use İkramia, you may create and share content, including:
- Recipes: Titles, descriptions, ingredients, instructions, cooking times
- Photos and Videos: Images and videos of food, recipes, and cooking processes
- Comments and Reviews: Feedback on other users' recipes
- Social Interactions: Likes, follows, saves, and shares
- Content Moderation Data: When you submit recipes, we may analyze your recipe text, ingredients, instructions, tags, and uploaded images using automated systems (including AI) to check compliance with our content guidelines
2.3 Device, App, and Permissions Information
When you use Ikramia, we may process technical information needed to operate the app, such as:
- Device and App Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and similar technical details
- Permissions and Media Access: Camera access, photo library access, and media files you choose to upload
- Security and Reliability Information: Crash reports, error logs, and performance information generated when you use the service
- Notification Information: If notifications are enabled in your app build or on your device, notification permissions and related push-token information may be processed to deliver notifications where available
2.4 Analytics and Usage Data
We may process information about how users interact with Ikramia, such as feature usage, recipe views, searches, and technical performance data.
We may use first-party analytics, service logs, or third-party analytics tools in some builds, releases, or environments to improve reliability, security, and product experience. If a specific analytics or tracking tool is not enabled in your build, the related processing may not occur.
2.5 Tracking and Advertising Data
On supported platforms such as iOS, Ikramia may request tracking-related permission where a feature or SDK would require it under platform rules. If you deny that permission, tracking activities that depend on that permission should not occur.
Ikramia does not promise that advertising, attribution, or cross-app tracking features are enabled in every build, release, or region.
2.6 Device Storage, WebViews, and Similar Technologies
Because Ikramia is a mobile application, it may use secure device storage, local app storage, cached data, operating-system services, SDKs, and similar technologies rather than browser cookies in the traditional website sense.
If you open external websites, web content, or in-app browser views from Ikramia, those surfaces may use their own cookies or similar technologies subject to their own policies and settings.
For more information, see our Cookie Policy.

5.3 Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services.
When you delete your account:
- We begin our account deletion workflow once your deletion request is confirmed through the app or support.

If you do not want content to remain on the platform, please manually delete it before deleting your account.
- Some limited information may remain temporarily in backups, caches, and audit records for a reasonable period, or longer where legally required.
Content Moderation Records:
- Moderation reports (including recipe content snapshots, keyword matches, and AI analysis results) are retained for up to 2 years from the date of the moderation decision for compliance, accuracy tracking, and abuse prevention purposes, after which they are anonymized or deleted
- Evidence images from blocked recipe submissions are stored separately and retained for the same 2-year period
- Strike counters and ban history on your account are erased upon account deletion
- Moderation reports associated with your account are deleted upon account deletion, along with any evidence images stored separately (GDPR Art. 17 right to erasure). Aggregated, anonymized moderation statistics (not linked to your identity) may be retained indefinitely for system improvement

AI features may be powered by third-party AI services. When you use AI features, your input data may be sent to these services for processing. These third-party providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
15. Content Moderation and Automated Decision-Making
İkramia uses automated systems to review recipe content for compliance with our halal content guidelines and community standards. This processing applies to all recipe submissions and is carried out under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract — content guidelines are a condition of service) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in maintaining platform safety).
15.1 How Content Moderation Works
- Keyword Filtering: Recipes are screened against a multilingual keyword database covering prohibited content categories (non-halal ingredients, profanity, offensive language). This process is instantaneous and runs on our servers without third-party processing.
- AI Content Analysis: Recipe text and images may be analyzed by AI services (Google Gemini) to detect content that may violate our guidelines, including non-halal food content, inappropriate imagery, or attempts to evade keyword filters. This analysis occurs at the time of recipe submission. We endeavor to screen all submissions, but screening coverage is not guaranteed in all circumstances (e.g., temporary service unavailability).
- Human Review: Content flagged by automated systems may be reviewed by authorized content moderators who can approve or reject the content.
15.2 Consequences of Content Violations
Our automated systems may make the following decisions:
- Submission blocked: Recipes that clearly violate our guidelines (explicit prohibited content, inappropriate imagery) may be prevented from being published. You may submit a new recipe with the content addressed.
- Published with limited visibility: Recipes flagged for review are created but may not appear in feeds or search until reviewed by a moderator.
- Restriction of service: Repeated violations are tracked over time and may result in temporary restrictions on submitting new recipes (ranging from 1 day to 1 week). Violations are reduced over time based on continued compliance.
These decisions may be made fully automatically without human intervention.
15.3 Your Rights Regarding Automated Decisions
Under applicable law (including GDPR Article 22 and KVKK Article 11), you have the right to:
- Obtain an explanation of any automated decision affecting your account
- Request human review of an automated decision within 30 days
- Express your point of view and contest the decision
- Edit rejected recipes and resubmit them for a new review
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@ikramrecipes.com. We will respond within 30 days.
15.4 Moderation Data
When content is flagged or rejected, we may store:
- A snapshot of the recipe content at the time of the moderation decision
- Keyword matches and AI analysis results
- Evidence images (for blocked submissions only)
- The moderation decision and reasoning
This data is used for compliance, accuracy tracking, appeal processing, and abuse prevention. See Section 5.3 for retention periods.
16. Do Not Track Signals
Some web browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature that signals to websites you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. Our app does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals.
However, you can control tracking on iOS through:
